General properties of stars

Fusion takes place in the cores of stars where the pressures and temperatures are very high. The outer layers of stars do not have fusion occuring in them.

For most normal stars during most of their lives, this fusion converts hydrogen to helium. Stars that are fusing hydrogen to make helium are said to be main sequence stars.
