Itinerary for Lab 4 (Grand Canyon)

08:15 DET, AAL pick up vans from Budget at the airport

08:45 meet at meeting spot (see map)

09:00 sharp! depart for Red Mountain and Grand Canyon

09:30 arrive at Red Mountain

09:45 begin 1 mile hike into Red Mountain

10:00 arrive at inside of Red Mountain; first talk: Red Mountain (Eric)

10:30 begin 1 mile hike back to vans

10:45 depart for Grand Canyon

11:45 stop in Tusayan (just outside the park) for bathrooms (also a general store, which does have some food)

12:00 depart Tusayan

12:15 arrive Grand Canyon National Park

12:45 arrive at lunch spot

13:15 hike out to rim

13:30 second talk on the rim: stratigraphy of GC (Chip, Caden)

14:00 hike back to vans

14:30 drive to Grandview Point lookout

15:00 third talk: erosion/river channels (Ariel and Polina)

15:30 fourth talk: history of Colorado Plateau

16:00 depart Grand Canyon for NAU (stop in Tusayan for bathrooms/food again)

18:00 arrive on campus at meeting place

18:30 DET, AAL drop off vans

We'll do two fairly easy hikes on this trip, but make sure you've got good sturdy shoes.
