The scanning force microscopy lab houses a Veeco scanning force microscope with phase imaging capability, an ultra-high vacuum chamber facility for thin film depositions, and a matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometer (MALDI). |
The scanning tunneling microscopy lab (STM) houses an ultra high vacuum compatible STM instrument including in-situ facilities for thin film preparation and deposition, and a low energy electron diffraction (LEED) instrument. |
The x-ray photoelectron (XPS) laboratory houses two PHI XPS systems including many other instruments for general materials characterization. Other instrumentation includes a liquid helium cryostat, FTIR system, mass spectrometer, and ion-beam system. |
