Learner-Generated Analogies as Pedagogical Tools for Conceptual Change
Mark James , Kansas State University.
Abstract
Recent developments in cognitive science have pointed to analogy-making as the brain s fundamental mechanism of cognition. The theoretical basis for this view, as well as its implications for teaching and learning, will be summarized. Finally, preliminary results of a dissertation studying a novel analogy based pedagogy will be presented.
